Guns in 200 words or less

The debate over gun control wages on at a fever pitch.  However, the answer is much less complicated than the pundits would have you believe.  Right to bear arms is in the Constitution--right to bear semi-automatic weapons is not.

Why a white kid with gaming cred has access to such weapons is cause for pause.  If these boy-men were not so lazy, they would be an asset to the United States military.  Instead, they use their gaming skills developed from spending countless hours in front of a TV set killing make believe zombies and other enemies to destroy thousands of lives with acts of senseless violence.  But who is ultimately to blame?

There are numerous scapegoats one can point the finger at: parents, violent entertainment (because that just started happening according to folks who never saw any of the "Saw" or "Chainsaw" movies), and the one who pulls the trigger.  But there is a more important question to be asked: who is providing semi-automatic weapons to the American population?  Rather than Google this answer and have every law enforcement official within a five-mile radius knocking at my door, that question is posed rhetorically because those people are the ones who should go straight to jail without passing GO.

Shot guns and hand guns--weapons that shoot one shot with every pull of the trigger:  these are the weapons which are protected under the second amendment. The danger is still there in the cases of crazy morons out there who have no value for human life.  However, the danger is less.  I think if this question is the only one posed, it will be hard for the Charlton Hestons of the U.S. to not get on board.

American's rights should not be taken away--but we need to make sure that the right rights are not being wronged, and that semi-automatic weapons stay in the military where they belong.
